| The beginning of the New Testament literary contextual era started with the event of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit arriving on the scene of the new body of believers. Causing many of the disciples of Jesus to speak in all the common languages of each pilgrim who traveled to the Jewish feast from their respected regions of Asia Minor/Roman Empire. All foreigners understood by hearing their own dialect (Acts 2). This was the beginning of the fulfilment of the promise of Jesus (John 12-17); to go back to Heaven and send another who would come along side them and lead them to remember all which He had taught them during the past three and a half years. It was at this event, that the beginning of the common practice of Jewish journalism, began to be used to enable an accurate accounting of the Messiah's words to be proclaimed to all. The common practice of recording all new teachings by the servants of the Messiah King was nothing new among the Jews. This naturally took place and was the "Base" upon which all verbal teachings were constructed and prepared for proclamation. Three years of teaching by Jesus to an uneducated common folk -- disciples -- who were not in the common habit of writing all the words of a King, which is what all previous Kings always surrounded themselves with -- scribes, recording kingly wisdom -- to preserve their legacy, now needed to be preserved for all generations. The Holy Spirit working strictly with the previous Word of Jesus, miraculously caused the disciples (who spoke only ONE dialect), to speak all the dialects of the pilgrims attending the feast. The natural process of recording this SIGN of Jesus, as he said would happen, was without a doubt accomplished by starting a journal, a teaching of Jesus was established in a writing -- Decree -- a Jewish king's word becomes a "Testament." This process is what the Holy Spirit used to cause all to recall the words of Jesus' teaching while on earth in Israel. The writings of the N.T. started to be penned and preserved formally for the future generations around the year 40 A.D. All the journals and records caused by the action of the Holy Spirit enabling believers in Jesus to speak, were consulted and the Spirit of God moved the N.T. writers to produce a formal writing, complied one at a time over a period of sixty years. As the Jewish believers in Jesus as Messiah King came to understand this, it became a very important event and a great concern. This event or process, was the "Production" of the King's Royal Decree, the very documentation they would legally exist in as a nation of people -- citizens -- of the King. Without a written word, there was no legal standing, therefore meaning they were a fraud as a nation. A "Testament" must be produced and for the first time in human history, it would be done while the King was not present, viewed as impossible in the eyes of mankind. This is extremely important to understand as you read the N.T. writings, for it is the basis upon which all the biblical writers worked when they penned their God-directed thoughts. They were citizens of a nation of the true God and Creator. They were waiting on Jesus, God the Creator, as their King. The Holy Spirit lead one writing at a time in a specific order of a decree. Pentecost occurred and caused people from all over the Roman Empire to speak about the new jewish movement; a group of believers in Jesus as Messiah and King of Israel. The Old Testament was being presented without the additions and changes the Jewish factions added during the past 600 years. The greek translation of the Old Testament was being used as a reliable version, and therefore approved, which enabled the common man to have access to a full understanding of the O.T. truths. Hebrew was not the common language and the Greek translation was outlawed by the Jewish authorities. The teachings of Jesus were being recalled and remembered by all who believed in Jesus when they had sat under His teachings daily. The first writing the Holy Spirit caused to be penned and preserved for all generations in time, was very appropriately written by the Messiah's human brother, James. He was a devout O.T. Jew who, after Jesus rose from the dead, understood his brother was God in the flesh, Messiah King. Note: The book of Acts was written by Luke as an historical record of the actions of the new government Jesus the King started. Luke provides the time-line of events in which the Holy Spirit caused seven disciples to write a New Testament. Luke wrote Acts in the late 60's A.D. but, I will list the chapter and verse where each of the N.T. books were written according to the record of Luke. Also note, these actual real time writing events are dated within the record and are not the dates of the manuscripts which we have today, those dates are obviously much later, having been copies of the originals which were written where I list them. 34 - 40 A.D. writing period, Jesus teachings written in fragments, collected - combined. Acts chapters 1 - 5 - Mark's Gospel, an educated disciple wrote for an uneducated fisherman, Peter, the account of a common man's King, who served His common Jewish citizens while being God the Creator, this "Messiah" the Jews did not understand would come. - James, to Jerusalem Jewish believers in Jesus as King, "First Truths For Jews." Acts chapters 6 - 8 - Matthew's Gospel The account of the Jewish Messiah as being Jesus of Nazareth. Acts chapters 9 - 19 Saul -- Killer of Believers -- Converted 37 A.D. Writes 13 letters to Churches He Started as "Paul" , 41 - 69 A.D. - Galatians - 1 & 2 Thessalonians Acts chapter 20: 1-5 - 1 & 2 Corinthians - Romans Acts chapters 20:6 - 28 - Luke's Gospel - Ephesians - Philippians - Colossians - 1 & 2 Timothy - Titus - Philemon Paul's Death 67 - 68 A.D. - Acts, written to provide the record for the younger generation of believers who were about to go through the burning of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. and the dispersion of the Jews all throughout the Roman Empire Luke's tribute to Paul's work whom God placed in his care physically to keep him alive to serve Him. - 1 & 2 Peter, writes to his mission churches 65 - 69 A.D. and is killed prior to 70 A.D. - Jude, Jesus' human brother writes a short letter of encouragement before destruction. Rome Burns Jerusalem 70 A.D. - Hebrews, written by Paul's disciples using his records and writing notes in part. The message was for Jewish believers to not attempt to return to O.T. sacrificial laws because they believed God allowed Jerusalem to be destroyed for not practicing the Mosiac laws of substitution sacrifices but instead proclaiming Jesus as the "Lamb of God" who takes away the sin of the world. 80 - 100 A.D. John comes from Ephesus where he had taken care of Jesus' mother Mary, whom he had kept from the public eye until she died peacefully. - John's Gospel presented Jesus as God the Creator. Most mature truths about Jesus. - 1,2,3, John are letters to John's mission churches. Admonishment to stay in all of N.T. - Revelation is written to close the entire event of the production of a written revelation. |
| There are many research studies in print addressing biblical manuscript dating. Progressive Revelation Order is not presenting those manuscript dates or attempting to represent the known or commonly accepted scholarly date of earliest known copies. Instead the purpose is to present the Bible reader with, as close as possible, the actual real-time occurrence the biblical writers worked within as they wrote. The majority of information and data was supplied by the biblical writer within the writing itself. There is an amount of common sense used to reason a writing date as being several years prior to the first presentation of the writing by the writer. From this date, common sense again dictates the truth that many years passed during the natural copying process from one generation to the next, and one geographical area to the next, which is what Paul and Peter, as well as the O.T. Jewish Kings and Prophets promoted and encouraged their readers to accomplish. For instance, in the case of Mark writing a gospel of Jesus because he was a educated Jew/Greek, the information was provided by Peter (who was unable to write because he was unschooled, being a fishermen) who stayed at Mark's parent's home when in Jerusalem Also in the case of James, Jesus' human brother, we understand he was at first antagonistic and sceptical of his older brother being in reality, God the Creator. Being heavily schooled in Judaism he also listened to and was very familiar with Jesus' teachings. He had access to these teachings, and used them when writing to the Jewish believers after Jesus ascended to heaven. His writing was the base upon which the believers started to grow in the teachings of Jesus as a King. Luke in Acts, records him being killed early on in the formation of believers as a nation in waiting for the King to return and rule the world. Obviously James taught first and then put his teachings in writing near the end of his life so that the future generations would have access to the first hand truth that Jesus was the God Man. In the case of Luke writing Acts, his design and intention was to provide future generations with the history of how the disciples of Jesus became Apostles, and started to be the foundation of the "People for God's Name" on earth. Having travelled with Paul from the start, he had access to all of Paul's events and teachings, also all the other six writers of the N.T. books and/or letters. He was able to research the genealogy of Jesus using more than Jewish records. He took from his notes dating from 40 - 68 A.D. and selected exactly what he needed to paint a picture of the essential truths all readers of future generation would need to learn to have faith in Jesus as their Messiah and King. In the New Testament as well as the Old Testament, the writers all share the same purpose, which was, to provide a written account of the action of Jehovah Jesus to create a "People for His Name" with each writers contribution being used as the base for the next writer. This process of a production of the history of building this nation of God, a Kingdom of God on Earth, starts at a specific time and ends at a specific time. It is a fact that God provided more revelation than what is recorded in the biblical books, however, God did not preserve and cause them to be included along with the collection of writings which eventually became 66 books. Instead God allowed many written accounts to pass by the wayside, because they were not needed to accomplish the goal. To provide an historical series of snapshots through a collection of writings God caused to be preserved for all generation from the point in time from the first writer to the last, and then to secure and preserve this finished collection of writings for all the ages. Many writers had no idea God was using them as they journaled. Many who copied those originals were directed by God as well, resulting in edits to the originals. Some were personally ordered by God to pen a record for the purpose of providing a record for all mankind If the writing is here, God did it. Nothing is missing or included which should not be Thus the original arrangement of biblical writings is knowable. |
