| I understood the truth of God's salvation at the age of seven. The death of an older sister was one of the first truths of life for me to learn. This resulted in me desiring the God of my father and mother when most children would not be concerned with serious issues of life and death, guilt and sin, forgiveness and substitutional death. And a resurrection into new eternal life. I started learning the Bible aggressively which lasted until I arrived into the American 1970's as a teenager. A typical preacher's kid, I left obedience to God's Word and lived by my own word. At nineteen I returned to God, married, started a family, and started Bible seminary. After six years a divorce ended everything; I lost three children and my wife and after a year of failed attempts to restore it, gave up and lived in anger and self destruction. This lasted for fifteen years during which time I always studied the Bible as an antagonist, however studied God's word aggressively because I knew it was the truth, but my personal failures fueled my rage against myself, I hoped God would take me home, walking close to destruction. The end result was me schooling myself using the extensive library my father and grandfather provided. The formation of a complete biblical understanding resulted in me desiring to allow God to have Jesus represent me in the judgment of my sin before His throne. And while being in a state of faith in this legal atonement, I could serve to assist Bible readers to comprehend this same salvation and relationship. For the last 12 years I've worked on this approach to the Bible. Attempting to remove as much work (which man added religiously) as possible from the natural process God created when he provided His revelation in a well planned out system. | My name is David Douglass and I live in central Florida. I am Fifty years old and have been a citizen of Jesus as my King and Lord for 43 years. I insist Jehovah created Himself as a man named Jesus of Nazareth and is God. Also the Bible is the only revelation of God for today and it has been since John finished writing the last book. I started my religious life as a conservative Baptist and was schooled in this philosophy, theology, and religion. I do not use this system to read the Bible any longer, although I do not condemn the system. In my attempt to return to the most basic simple method of reading the Bible I realized very few people read the Bible without some form of religious guidance as the "Key" to successfully learn God's word. This "Key" was something I started with too, and participated in for most of my life. My "Key" happened to have inscribed, "Basic Historical Baptist Theology", which for the most part offered teachings correctly designed from the Bible. However I did know (At a young age) that Paul was not a Baptist, and John would also not be labelled a Baptist either. Instead they would be considered neo-Judism believers who changed the day of worship, and replaced the priesthood and sacrificial laws with a teaching proclaimed by a resurrected Jewish Messiah King, Jesus of Nazareth. This in no way means Baptist are wrong or incorrect in most of what they offer. However I do know that they are not the only true believers of Jesus as Messiah and King. But I believe they work too hard to arrive at what they have formed in their theological teachings. In doing so, have failed to guard against the natural eroding of language and religious terms among their members. They are like most religions in this respect, but achieve a greater level of teaching God's truths from the Word of God than the majority of religions based on the Bible. I am a son of a Baptist GARBC preacher, who was faithful to teach me God's Word starting from the time I could understand. It was my father who insisted that I use proper hermeneutics consistently, always using the biblical original languages in context (Writer's culture, religion, customs, economics, politics and history); to become as much like the biblical writer and his intended readers as possible was the goal. A graduate of Baptist Bible College, he continued his biblical studies, including his family throughout his education in God's word, which continues to this day. As a servant of the Jesus, he enabled me to benefit the most by introducing me to God the Son at an early age. His steady efforts of offering me God's Word shaped my mind for God's work. Walter Douglass is a man who labors to serve his Lord Jesus, first by starting at home serving his wife and family, and then all who sat under his 40 plus years of pastoral and teaching ministry. I hope to honor God by working on this website, and honor my father as well. It is to God first, and His servant my father, that I dedicate with thanksgiving the ability to offer this work. |
